History graduate programs at ASU prepare students to become confident researchers, educators and professionals.
The M.A. and Ph.D. programs in history provide advanced training and close mentorship while allowing students to focus on the topics and regions that inspire them. We also offer a fully online M.A. in World War II Studies, giving students the chance to explore the global conflict in depth with leading scholars from the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, LA.
Across all programs, our graduate students gain the skills, experience and community they need to thrive in academic, public history and professional careers.

My time at ASU has been transformative. I learned so much from my professors, who challenged me to think critically and pursue excellence. Most of all, I finally understand what it means to be a historian, not just someone who studies the past, but someone who listens to it, learns from it, and gives it a voice in the present."
