History offers two paths for undergraduate majors: the BA in History and the BA in History (Secondary Education).
These programs help students build strong research and critical-thinking skills while exploring the stories that shape our world. Students interested in teaching can also gain hands-on classroom experience and prepare for social studies certification. No matter which path you choose, with a history major you will graduate ready to think deeply, communicate clearly and make an impact.
History, BA
Learn about the past while preparing for your future. In one of the largest undergraduate history programs in the country, you can explore a variety of time periods and regions, such as ancient Greece and modern Mexico, and topics that include sports, engineering, health, genocide, witchcraft and many more.
History (Secondary Education), BA
Do you love history? Prepare yourself for a career inside or outside the classroom by developing your skills in abstract and critical thinking, writing, oral presentation and reading comprehension. You'll gain a solid foundation for whatever your postgraduate dreams entail.
I got to learn so much about Arizona's history and have been able to challenge myself in the questions I ask and the stories I tell. This experience has not only made me a better researcher and student, but also showed me what it looks like to enjoy your work, and I want to have that for the rest of my career."
