The history faculty offers undergraduate training in four primary fields and graduate training in five primary fields. In addition, there are active clusters of faculty working in certain special or research areas, some of which cross geographic field boundaries.
Our faculty and students investigate religious ideas, values and practices from a core perspective in the Humanities that engages the social and behavioral sciences and other disciplines at Arizona State University. From this interdisciplinary approach we study religion through three distinct but interdependent frames: traditions, regional contexts and themes.
The Public History Program at ASU is one of the oldest in the country. Founded in 1980, it invites students to explore local and community history, digital humanities, historic preservation, oral history, cultural resources management, historical administration, museum studies, archival training and scholarly publishing. We train students to put history to work in the world—in National Parks, museums, universities, archives and the private sector.
