Date and Time: February 17, 2016 - 5:30am to 7:00am
Location: COOR Hall, room 4403
Campus: Tempe campus
Please join the ASU religious studies faculty and graduate students to hear Devaka Premawardhana, associate professor at Colorado College, give his talk "Beyond Pentecostal Explosion: Mobility and Mutability in Northern Mozambique." Recent scholarship on Pentecostalism in the global South gives the impression of a singular trajectory of inexorable growth. As a counternarrative, this ethnographic talk aims not to refute the widely reported statistical evidence, but to arm the ambivalence with which individuals behind the statistics experience novelty and change.
