L. Christian Smith Teaching Excellence Award
Chris Smith began his teaching career at Arizona State University in 1971. From that time forward, he has left an indelible imprint on generations of students. He has received at least eight awards in recognition of his contributions to student learning. He also served as Phi Alpha Theta’s faculty advisor for over twenty years. Phi Alpha Theta created the L. Christian Smith award to honor professors who are similarly committed to excellence in teaching.

Noel J. Stowe Graduate Mentor Award
Over the course of 41 years of academic service, Noel Stowe chaired more than fifty dissertations and theses and placed many of his students in academic and professional careers.
