The certificate in Russian and East European studies encourages students to develop special competency in Russian or East European languages and area studies.
Coursework leading to the certificate is offered in agribusiness, architecture, biology, economics, Eurasian languages (Armenian, Tajik, Tatar and Uzbek), geography, history, international business, music, political science, religious studies, Slavic and East European languages (Albanian, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Macedonian, Polish, Romanian and Russian), sociology and women's studies.
A student with a major in any school or department may pursue this certificate and develop a personalized plan of study in cooperation with an advisor in the Melikian Center.
Certificate holders enhance their prospects for study abroad fellowships and graduate admissions and also qualify for unique entry-level government employment opportunities. Past certificate awardees have moved into positions of leadership in government, academia and the private sector.
